Marvell Gaze - word that is key?

I have discussed the sun and our closest stars recently, which reminded me of the term “marvel gaze.” The term “gaze” is synonymous with stars and “star gazing” is exciting to me as I write this and prepare for my exit from the chase as I prepare for my new studies in space science.

So if the term “gaze” is associated stars such as the sun does that mean marvel is too?

I suggested in Finding Forrest Fenn and this blog that marvel is associated monuments and marvel comics, but could it also be associated with the star gazing? The sun is a star.

It just so happens that Marvell is a type of sun dial found in gardens. Perhaps this is why Mr. Fenn talks about his gardens and his gardening ability.

Forrest Fenn is a collector of many things and he will always talk about one of his most prized possessions and that is the arrow head that he found with his father when he was 9 years old. The Marvell sundial in the cover photo is distinctly known for the arrowhead dial.

If marvel instructs the seeker to use an obelisk as a sundial then the blaze is likely the sun. That explains why the poem uses “found” in the line “if you been wise and found the blaze;” since we see the blaze or the sun everyday, it has already been found. That would explain why Forrest says, “Playing a hunch is not worth much in the search and those who start out by looking for the blaze, are wasting their time,” and why we need to follow the clues.

Every question Fenn had asking about the blaze, he struggled or refused to answer it, but for this one, I am sure he was chuckling by the response!

Hi Forrest, I would like to know if the blaze can be found during the day without a flashlight. Thanks, Ron

Perhaps your question is wrought with trickiness Ron. Are you really asking if the blaze could be in a cave where it is dark during the day, thus the need of a flashlight? If there is no subterfuge intended in your question then I would say yes.

I mentioned in my “Phantom Knows” post, the suspicious shadow of Mr Fenn on the cover of his book too far to walk. If marvel gaze is a sun/obelisk combination then that shadow that is cast certainly explains why we must look quickly down.

This method explains how the treasure can be in a precise spot. Mr. Fenn has twice been tripped up with the Freudian slip stating the treasure is buried. This technique almost certainly guarantees the treasure is buried and explains why he said there is no need to dig up old out houses - I seems to suggest that we need to dig up something else.

When Forrest said a few were in tight focs with a word that is key, the words "tight focus" make me think of the sun/shadow focus to a specific spot.

I am sure if you went back and looked at some scrapbooks, you will find some subliminal uses and symbols representing sundials.
